Rigport FAQ

Rigport FAQ

    1. Why new plugs ...
(-> I'm satisfied with the current solution,
only costs money unnecessarily, and again a new cable in stock!)?

    2.  The baseline was specifically developed for events, ie
Small, lightweight, unobtrusive, quick handling, fixation in the truss ...
This required new approaches with regard to housing and connectors.
  • For all standard applications, in which only serves the bus, with existing resources, a target
    the CEE line was launched.
  1. Are black CEE plug with 400V permitted?

    • Yes, (but. ..)
Well-known manufacturers have specially developed for us (events), black versions (available here).
importantly, the coding in the position of the PE contact (400V = 6h) is thus a wrong pluggung with "normal" black 500V CEE plugs (7h) impossible.
Manufacturers introduced Mark as: only the datasheed covered in red (PCE), others only the internal plastic (MENNEKES)
what is really important, which applies to all electric appliances, is an indication of the nameplate, and a CE mark.
(eg, the military also used always green connector housing, "MIL standard")
Note: Rigport is designed for the event sector. Use outside events is not provided!

  2. Why convert to Rigport (look@ #1.)

    • to change to Rigport is not always immediately economically and therefore useful!
A parallel operation in addition to conventional systems makes a smooth transition possible, as by phasing out and wear, such as new purchases are required.
Here everyone can see for themselves how beneficial the bus vs.. previous method for its surroundings, and when it is amortized. Of course, only parts of the system can be used, too.
    1. Why are fuses in the rig (an error occurs completely impractical, because no correction is possible during the event)?
The argument is as old as the industry itself, but of course, it’s weightfully!
    2. On the one hand can continue to best way. each fuse to be installed "Bottom = Single Point of Control", and by default extension for "top" ranked = renunciation of all elements, which are equipped with safety elements (All-Star RP & greater than 16A versions)

    • On the other hand, however, is: according to VDE serve Fuses and RCDs (FI) to the people, equipment and line protection!
Triggering one of these elements has therefore always a reason, which must be examined before being put back!
Especially in the event’s powersupplying are mostly (90%) false network calculation / interpretation (risk of fire), and infiltration of water (danger to life by el. Impactor) = Reasons for disconnection
(other figures) would occupy a desolate state of the used Euipments.
A reset of a failure by securing elements on the ground,
as complete control of the entire system during the event is still not possible
not allowed and therefore even negligent.
If times have a "real" error (<) 10% of cases, the device properly fulfilled their duties, and interested participants must remain out of operation!
Therefore can not and should not be used this argument (guards solve Ideally, her life is never by mistake, or you receive daily in your home or car ... at the fuse box and reactivate this?)

    • Rigport also because its philosophy is enormous potential for rationalization, with the highest level of control (by the watchdog), coupled with remote operators and / or self-reset fuses.

    • Note on the edge: There are <32A actually only 30mA RCD's allowed, what also Rigport needs!
    1. Why do some models of thermal fuse?
      • Each wire size or connectors, etc. allowed uA only its maximum current, fuses prevent a dangerous crossing of this value (breaking point)
tap into a more secure trunkline with Powercon, it must be separately heruntergesichert (eg CEE 32A -> 20A PowerCon ...)
    • Rigport chooses for reasons of space (the main feature of the system is not) conventional circuit breaker (usually have thermal + magnetic tripping) but sometimes purely
thermal fuses, which in case of error also ensures a safe trigger (short circuit case, some carriers). Fusible elements are not maintenance free, and to wear at 16A in this size) (destroyed brackets.
    • These types allow (system condition), only the direct consumer connection .--> Rigport provides only line protection, no protective equipment
    1. Is the system waterproof?
    2. No! fundamental characteristic is the Neutrik PowerCon, which only comes with IP20 in the unplugged state. Any distribution of this compound may not easily reach higher classes.
The Powercon CEE Line is available with the protective cap with hinged cover IP 42 (can be closed achieved).
    •  for the baseline, Rigport Roof will be available, which in the hanging state, a possible dismissal of rain (just as with moving lights) protection class do not rise!
    1. Where can I obtain Rigport?
      • In the VAT dealer
  • In Rigport online shop (with EIAs for end customers, price lists for registered business customers)
  1. Are special (Other Equipment, Switches, Displays, housing ...) possible?

    •  yes
    1.  What kind of power handles the system?
    2. Rigport is designed with reserves (2.5 mm in 16A, 6mm sq 32A) so that spikes or long distances do not pose an immediate proble

    • is important to ensure that are only compatible parts (limbs) used conventional producers use mostly lower sections, which immediately reduced the strength of the chain!
    • in principle the rule of thumb @ 240VAC (is customary, assuming balanced loads):
      •  1x 16A = 3.5 KVA
      •  3x 16A = 10.5§ KVA
      •  3x 32A = 21KVA
      •  3 x63A = 42KVA
      •  ...
      •  at 400V applications (motors, DC Rigport dimmers ...) factor of 1.73
    1. Is there provision for securing the case, the plasticclamps are not safe!?
    2. Plastic clamps the baseline there are no slings, they are only for simple assembly and locking mechanism, drop safety continues to do so may provide an eye ... be attached.
    • the CEE Line is designed for ground applications, thereby ensuring the case is not included (but similar approach as in "serious" cable imaginable)
    • Star variants are designed for Trussfit and land assembly and safeable
    1. How does the loop impedance?
      • Is still the usual methods apply to Messeung / computations; to comply with the maximum limits!
    • Note: A bus line always consists of several plug contacts in series, care must be taken that each connection increases the total additive value!
    • For proper grounding ... is to always pay attention!
